After more than a decade away from the road, Rush is back—and fans couldn’t be happier.
The legendary rock band launched its highly anticipated Fifty Something Tour last week in Inglewood, California, delivering four unforgettable nights filled with classic hits, heartfelt tributes, and renewed energy. Performing fan favorites such as “Limelight,” “Far Cry,” and “Freewill,” Rush proved that their passion for music remains as strong as ever.
Featuring longtime members Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee, along with drummer Anika Nilles, the band took a moment to express their gratitude to the fans who helped make their return possible.
Sharing a photo from the stage, Rush posted a touching message:
“Thank you for making this week so effin’ amazing! For embracing Anika, Loren so profoundly. Aimee Mann for joining us on Time Stand Still in tribute to Neil. To you, our fans, your steadfast support is what has made this a reality.”
The message reflected both the excitement of the tour and the emotional significance of honoring the legacy of the late Neil Peart, whose influence continues to be felt throughout the band’s music and performances.
Fans Welcome Rush Back with Open Arms
The response from fans has been overwhelmingly positive. Concertgoers praised the band’s performances, with many noting that Rush sounds as strong as ever.
One fan shared:
“It was amazing. Saw show 1 and 4. Seen Rush a handful of times in the ’80s and early ’90s. This is the best the band sounded. I am hoping in a couple of years you do it again.”
Another emotional fan wrote:
“I had tears watching the first show online. Rush lives on. Long live Rush.”
The reactions highlight just how much the band’s music continues to resonate with audiences across generations.
A Massive Global Tour Ahead
While the U.S. leg of the tour is only beginning, Rush has no plans to slow down. Upcoming stops include Fort Worth, New York City, Detroit, Cleveland, Denver, Hollywood, Tampa, and Atlanta.
The band’s global reach will become even more apparent in 2027, when the tour expands internationally. Scheduled performances in Canada, Argentina, Chile, Germany, Scotland, England, Italy, Switzerland, Norway, Sweden, and Finland will bring Rush’s celebrated catalog to fans around the world.
Striving to Be Better Than Ever
For Alex Lifeson, returning to the stage is about reconnecting with the magic of live performance.
“I’m looking forward to that feeling of being on stage and playing and getting lost in the song and hitting every note correctly. There’s nothing else about touring that’s attractive.”
He added:
“All I want at the end of the day is for us to be Rush and to be amazing.”
Geddy Lee shares a similarly ambitious mindset. Rather than simply revisiting past successes, he sees the tour as an opportunity to raise the bar.
“I’ve got one goal, and that’s to be better than I was ten years ago. Which is tough. It’s a real challenge.”
The Next Chapter of Rush
Rush’s return to live performance has already exceeded expectations, rekindling a connection with fans that has endured for decades. The opening shows demonstrated that the band’s legacy remains alive and thriving, while their commitment to excellence suggests that this reunion is far more than a nostalgic victory lap.
If Lifeson and Lee achieve their goal of becoming even better than before, the Fifty Something Tour may ultimately be remembered as one of the most inspiring chapters in Rush’s remarkable story.
