“The Voice” Shares “Unprecedented Way” That Season 28’s Finalists Will Be Selected

he Voice is officially narrowing the field as Season 28 moves closer to crowning its next champion.

After the Knockout Rounds wrapped, 16 artists—four from each team—advanced to the Playoffs. The first playoff episode aired Monday, December 1, spotlighting performances from Team Reba and Team Bublé as the competition intensified.

Here’s what each contestant performed during the episode:

  • Aaron Nichols (Team Reba) – “Beer Never Broke My Heart” by Luke Combs

  • Jazz McKenzie (Team Bublé) – “Don’t Stop Believin’” by Journey

  • Ryan Mitchell (Team Reba) – “Undressed” by Sombr

  • Trinity (Team Bublé) – “Barracuda” by Heart

  • Aubrey Nicole (Team Reba) – “Black Velvet” by Alannah Myles

  • Rob Cole (Team Bublé) – “I Hope You Dance” by Lee Ann Womack

  • Peyton Kyle (Team Reba) – “Hold Back the River” by James Bay

  • Max Chambers (Team Bublé) – “A Change Is Gonna Come” by Sam Cooke

By the end of the night, two of the six finalists were revealed. Each coach selected one artist to advance directly to the finale. Reba surprised viewers by choosing Aubrey Nicole, while Michael Bublé named Jazz McKenzie as his finalist.

Next week, coaches Niall Horan and Snoop Dogg will make their picks after their teams perform on December 8. Each coach will select one contestant to move forward.

However, elimination doesn’t mean the end of the road. This season introduces a new twist that gives viewers a powerful role. Contestants not chosen by their coaches enter a public voting pool, where fans can vote to save one artist. The singer who receives the most votes earns a spot in the finale.

Following the December 1 episode, Aaron Nichols, Ryan Mitchell, Trinity, Rob Cole, Peyton Kyle, and Max Chambers entered the voting pool. Fans cast their votes that same night, and one of them will join the finalists.

The process will repeat after the December 8 episode, when viewers vote for the final member of the Top 6.

The live Voice Season 28 finale will air over two nights on December 15 and December 16, with Aubrey Nicole, Jazz McKenzie, and four yet-to-be-determined finalists competing for the title. More details, including guest performers, will be announced soon—so stay tuned!
