The Voice has officially wrapped Season 28, and while fans are celebrating the latest winner, the finale also brought bittersweet news about one beloved Coach.
Throughout the season, viewers enjoyed seeing Reba McEntire, Michael Bublé, Niall Horan, and Snoop Dogg guide hopeful artists on the NBC competition. However, it was revealed in July 2025 that The Voice would return in February 2026 with Season 29 — featuring a revamped format and a new coaching lineup that includes returning favorites Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine, and John Legend.
What does that mean for Reba? Unfortunately for fans, Reba McEntire will not be returning for Season 29.
While there’s always the possibility she could rejoin the show in the future, Reba has been open about why she’s stepping away for now — and it comes down to balancing priorities.
In addition to The Voice, Reba currently stars in NBC’s sitcom Happy’s Place, which is airing its second season. The show reunites her with longtime collaborator Melissa Peterman and also features her fiancé, Rex Linn. With multiple projects on her plate, Reba’s exit from The Voice appears to be a practical decision rather than a permanent goodbye.
Reba spoke warmly about working alongside her loved ones during a December 1 appearance on Today, sharing just how meaningful the experience has been.
“We have a blast,” she said. “We’re so grateful and thankful that we get to go to work together, work together, and then go home together.”
Even though fans are thrilled to see Reba thriving on Happy’s Place, many admit her absence will be felt when The Voice returns this winter.
Reba’s history with the franchise runs deep. She first appeared as an advisor to Blake Shelton during Season 1’s Battle Rounds, later returning as a Knockouts advisor in Seasons 8 and 23. She officially joined the red chairs as a Coach in Seasons 24 through 26, took a brief hiatus, and then made her highly anticipated return for Season 28.
While Season 29 will move forward without her, fans remain hopeful this isn’t the last time Reba McEntire will grace The Voice. For now, her legacy on the show — and her unmistakable warmth — are firmly intact.
