On March 7, 2022, Phil Collins took the stage at Berlin’s Mercedes-Benz Arena for a special night with Genesis. Though visibly frail, his determination was clear. Seated for the entire show, he still managed to captivate the audience, proving that his love for music burns as brightly as ever.
The Last Domino? Tour was a long-awaited reunion for the legendary trio, bringing together Collins, Mike Rutherford, and Tony Banks after years of hiatus and uncertainty. The night kicked off with Behind the Lines and Duke’s End from their 1980 album Duke, before moving into fan favorites like Mama, Follow You Follow Me, Invisible Touch, Throwing It All Away, and I Can’t Dance.
As Collins settled into the center of the stage, the audience fell silent. Every note and lyric, seasoned with years of experience, resonated deeply, stirring memories and emotions across generations. By the final chord, the crowd erupted into a standing ovation, not just for the songs, but for the man who gave his heart to every word.
Phil’s journey hasn’t been easy. Since 2009, he’s faced serious health setbacks, including a vertebra injury that caused severe nerve pain and surgeries that affected his drumming. Later, he battled type 2 diabetes, foot complications, back surgery, and the physical effects of alcohol abuse. Despite these challenges, his impact on music remains undeniable, and his passion on that Berlin stage reminded fans why he’s a true legend.
That night wasn’t just a concert — it was a celebration of resilience, history, and the enduring power of music.
