Judges may change, but The Voice marches on. Over its 27 seasons, the popular singing competition has welcomed a mix of new and returning celebrity coaches, including pop sensation Camila Cabello.
The Havana star joined Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, and John Legend as a first-time coach in season 22. Cabello brought a fresh burst of energy, charm, and humor to the show, and her playful banter with Shelton quickly won over fans. Despite her memorable presence, it’s been a while since she appeared on the show, and speculation about her return remains uncertain.
While many Voice coaches return for multiple seasons or sign long-term deals, Cabello seems to be the exception. Fans on Reddit have debated her absence. One wrote, “I hope Camila comes back,” while another speculated, “I doubt it. There may have been a falling out behind the scenes—she no longer follows The Voice on Instagram, the only coach to ever do so.” Another fan added, “I think Ariana has more of a chance of returning than Camila.”
Some social media users even claimed Cabello would “never” return. One alleged, “My source at The Voice said Camila is never coming back. He wouldn’t say why, but mentioned she was the worst coach they ever had.” Despite the drama, fans remember her season fondly. Her team included incredible young talents, many of whom chose her as their mentor, and her group was considered one of the strongest—even if she didn’t take home the title.
Meanwhile, Blake Shelton’s team had a comparatively weaker lineup that season, yet he claimed victory with wildcard contestant Bryce Leatherwood. The country singer’s charisma and musical flair quickly won America’s heart. Leatherwood became the ninth and final winner from team Shelton before his retirement.
Shelton stepped down as a coach after season 23 to focus on family life. He married fellow coach Gwen Stefani in 2021 and embraced the role of stepdad to her three sons: Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo.
