Justina Machado is officially heading back to Broadway this season, starring in the highly anticipated new musical Real Women Have Curves — and rehearsal photos have just been released.
The production is based on the beloved 2002 film Real Women Have Curves, which itself was adapted from the stage play by Josefina López.
Set in the summer of 1987, the story follows ambitious teenager Ana Garcia, who dreams of leaving East Los Angeles to pursue a bigger future. But when her family’s struggling dress factory lands a make-or-break order for 200 dresses, Ana must balance her own aspirations with her mother’s expectations and the realities facing the tight-knit community of women working alongside her.
Broadway newcomer Tatianna Córdoba will make her debut as Ana, stepping into the role originally portrayed on screen by America Ferrera.
Real Women Have Curves: The Musical begins preview performances on April 1, with opening night set for April 27. Tickets are officially on sale now.
