Gwen Stefani is opening up about how she and Blake Shelton make their holidays extra special—starting with a lot of travel.
On the Dec. 4 episode of Today, Gwen shared a peek into their busy December plans.
“Blake and I are always bouncing between Oklahoma and L.A.,” she said. “This month, we’re heading back to Oklahoma and then returning to L.A. again.”
The couple loves splitting their time between the peaceful outdoors of Oklahoma and the energy of California—especially during the holidays.
“We just celebrated Thanksgiving,” Gwen added. “Actually, we had two Thanksgivings. It’s such a blessing. I love all the back-and-forth. Oklahoma is gorgeous this time of year.”
Gwen, who shares her three boys with ex-husband Gavin Rossdale, and Blake, 49, have always embraced Christmas. Their love for the season inspired their 2017 duet “You Make It Feel Like Christmas.”
“We’re both huge Christmas music fans,” Gwen explained in a previous Vevo Footnotes interview. “Blake once sent me a voice note of him playing the song on guitar. When we finished writing it, we knew it had to be a duet.”
For Gwen, 56, the holidays have always held a special magic:
“I’ve always loved Christmas. It’s such a magical time. Being part of people’s traditions through music is one of the greatest gifts. Christmas music lasts forever.”
This year, she kept the festive mood going by releasing two new songs: “Hot Cocoa” and “Shake the Snow Globe,” which she debuted for the Prime Video movie Oh. What. Fun. She performed both at the 2025 Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting Ceremony on Dec. 3.
When asked how she came up with “Shake the Snow Globe,” Gwen said she wanted something fresh:
“I don’t remember many people talking about snow globes in Christmas songs,” she shared. “So I thought, ‘Okay, it’s time for a snow globe moment.’”
For her, Christmas music stands in its own category.
“Those songs bring out so much nostalgia,” she said. “You only hear them once a year, so they feel even more special—you miss them.”
