Nearly a week after the shocking news of Ace Frehley’s passing at age 74, New Jersey officials are taking a closer look at the circumstances surrounding the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer’s death.

According to TMZ, the Morris County Medical Examiner’s Office is conducting a toxicology test and an external examination of Frehley’s body. While no full autopsy was performed, a representative confirmed that the final cause of death for the “New York Groove” singer will be determined once the toxicology report is complete in the coming weeks.

Frehley, a founding member of KISS in 1973, passed away on October 16, 2025, in Morristown, New Jersey. Reports indicate he had been hospitalized after suffering a brain bleed following a fall at his studio in September. Although all KISS shows were canceled through February 2026 to allow for recovery, Frehley’s condition worsened, and he was eventually placed on a ventilator. On the day of his passing, his family made the heart-wrenching decision to remove him from life support.

“We are completely devastated and heartbroken,” his family said in a statement. “In his last moments, we were fortunate to surround him with loving, caring, peaceful words and prayers.
