The Voice: Battle of Champions is set to premiere on February 23, bringing a bold new twist to the long-running singing competition as it enters season 29.

NBC’s hit series returns with an all-star format that reunites past winners and fan favorites, while welcoming back three of the show’s most competitive coaches: Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine, and John Legend. The upcoming season marks the first time The Voice will feature only three coaches, each leading a team of 10 artists.

In a newly released teaser, Legend calls the upcoming season “the battle of champions for a reason,” setting the tone for a high-stakes showdown. The clip highlights the coaches’ playful rivalry, with Levine reminding viewers he was the show’s first-ever winner, while Clarkson fires back that she holds the record for the most victories. Their competitive banter continues as Levine teases “explosive” performances unlike anything seen before, and Legend and Levine jokingly spar over their Grammy wins. Clarkson humorously quips, “I hate when dad and dad fight.”

Season 29 introduces a faster-paced structure designed to raise the stakes for both coaches and artists. The competition will unfold across multiple rounds, including Blind Auditions, Battles, Knockouts, semifinals, and finals. Adding to the excitement is the return of original The Voice coach CeeLo Green, who will appear during the All-Star Showdowns to select the winner. Clarkson jokingly praises his dramatic entrance, calling it worthy of a Las Vegas show.

The roster of returning artists includes Girl Named Tom and Jake Hoot for Team Clarkson, Maelyn Jarmon and Renzo for Team Legend, and Javier Colon and Jordan Smith for Team Levine. Clarkson last appeared as a coach in season 23, while Legend and Levine reunite after coaching together during season 27.
