“Ozzy Osbourne Honored with Star-Studded Tribute at 2025 MTV VMAs”

Ozzy Osbourne’s legendary career was celebrated in a heartfelt tribute at the 2025 MTV VMAs. On Sunday, Sept. 7, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith joined Yungblud and guitarist Nuno Bettencourt on stage to perform a medley of Ozzy’s greatest hits, bringing the crowd to its feet.

The tribute was introduced by Ozzy’s son Jack and his four granddaughters—Pearl, Andy, Minnie, and Maple—all wearing Ozzy t-shirts as a loving nod to the rock icon.

The performance kicked off with Yungblud, 28, singing “Crazy Train” and “Changes” with Bettencourt on guitar. Aerosmith then joined in for “Mama, I’m Coming Home”, with Yungblud adding his vocals. The show ended with a group embrace and Yungblud shouting, “Ozzy forever, man!”

Speaking on the red carpet, Bettencourt, 58, shared his excitement: “My 15-year-old self couldn’t believe I’d be performing a tribute for Ozzy. We’re gonna blow the roof off the place. Maybe a few tears at the end.”

Musician Ozzy Osbourne appears at a signing during 2022 Comic-Con International Day 2 at the San Diego Convention Center on July 22, 2022 in San Diego, California. Osbourne collaborated with artist Todd McFarlane on a new comic, Patient Number 9.

Ozzy passed away on July 22 at the age of 76, just days after performing his final concert with Black Sabbath in Birmingham, England. His death prompted an outpouring of love from fellow musicians, including Aerosmith, who called him “a voice that changed music forever” and celebrated his unique spirit and contribution to rock music.

Yungblud had a personal connection with Ozzy, featuring him and his wife Sharon in his 2022 music video for “The Funeral” and giving him a custom necklace before his final show. He promised to play Black Sabbath’s “Changes” every night in tribute to Ozzy.

The 2025 MTV VMAs, hosted by LL Cool J, also showcased performances by Lady Gaga, Sabrina Carpenter, Post Malone, Doja Cat, J Balvin with DJ Snake, Conan Gray, Tate McRae, and more. The event aired live from New York’s UBS Arena and streamed on Paramount+.
