The Rolling Stones finally confirm new album ‘Foreign Tongues’, featuring Paul McCartney and Robert Smith

After weeks of cryptic teasers—ranging from global billboards to multilingual hints—the wait is finally over. The Rolling Stones have officially announced their brand-new album, Foreign Tongues, and it’s already shaping up to be one of the most exciting releases of 2026.

To mark the announcement, the band has dropped the uplifting lead single In The Stars, a track that effortlessly proves the Stones still have that timeless ability to craft feel-good anthems. Alongside it, fans can also dive into Rough and Twisted, the album’s opening track, now available across streaming platforms.

Interestingly, Rough and Twisted first surfaced in a more mysterious fashion. Released earlier this month under the alias The Cockroaches—a name the band previously used back in 1977—the song appeared as a vinyl-only drop. Priced at £10.07 in the UK and $10.07 in the US, sharp-eyed fans quickly decoded the hint: Foreign Tongues is set to arrive on July 10th.

The upcoming record features 14 tracks and reunites the band with producer Andrew Watt, who previously worked with them on their hugely successful 2023 album Hackney Diamonds. This time around, the Stones are also bringing in an impressive lineup of collaborators, including Paul McCartney, Robert Smith of The Cure, Steve Winwood, and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith.

Core contributors Darryl Jones, Matt Clifford, and Steve Jordan join Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood in shaping the album’s sound, promising a rich and dynamic listening experience.

Reflecting on the recording process, Jagger shared his enthusiasm:
“I love doing these recording sessions in London at Metropolis. It was a very intense few weeks recording Foreign Tongues. We had 14 great tracks and moved as fast as we could. The room there isn’t too big—you can really feel the passion from everyone.”

Keith Richards echoed that sentiment, emphasizing the album’s continuity and energy:
Foreign Tongues has a natural progression from Hackney Diamonds. Being back in London brought a certain vibe—it was a month of concentrated punch. For me, it’s all about the enjoyment.”

Looking ahead, Richards added, “I’m blessed to still be doing this—and long may it last.”

Ronnie Wood also highlighted the creative spark behind the sessions:
“The atmosphere was incredibly creative. The band was on top form the entire time. Many tracks came together in the first take. I just hope everyone loves it.”

Visually, the album is just as compelling. The cover art, created by artist Nathaniel Mary Quinn, adds another layer of depth to the project. Quinn described the opportunity as “an artistic honour—a dialogue with one of the most enduring forces in cultural history.”

To celebrate the announcement, Jagger, Richards, and Wood have kicked off a press tour in New York, building anticipation ahead of the album’s release. While the full tracklist hasn’t been revealed yet, expectations are already sky-high.

If the early releases are anything to go by, Foreign Tongues isn’t just another Stones album—it’s a statement that rock legends can still evolve, surprise, and inspire.
