WATCH Kelly Clarkson Freeze in Pride as 11-Year-Old Daughter River Rose Hijacks Las Vegas Stage, Declares “I Wanna Sing,” and Steals the Show

During a recent Studio Sessions residency performance at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace on July 18, the “Since U Been Gone” singer shared a standout moment with her 11-year-old daughter, River Rose. Rather than shy away from the spotlight, River boldly announced she wanted to join the show. Clarkson told the audience, “So my daughter, River Rose, said to me, ‘I wanna sing tonight!’ ” Her fearless request quickly became a highlight of the evening, as Clarkson handed over the stage to her daughter in a playful, proud gesture.

The duo delivered an adorable and confident duet of River Rose’s favorite, Clarkson’s 2015 hit “Heartbeat Song.” Fans delighted in the sight of mother and daughter twinning in t-shirts and flared jeans, with one fan commenting, “Omg not River being almost as tall as her mom.” This marked the second time River has joined her mother on the Vegas stage, proving the young performer is already comfortable in front of thousands of fans.

From Stage Stealer to Mini Producer

River Rose’s curiosity doesn’t stop at performing. Earlier this year, she tried her hand at producing during an episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, shadowing showrunner Alex Duda. “Oh my God! You have a mic and everything! You’re so fancy! Oh my God. I love it. You’re like a little mini producer,” Clarkson exclaimed on-air.

The American Idol alum, who also shares 9-year-old son Remington “Remy” Alexander with ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, praised her daughter’s professionalism, noting she attended “all the meetings this morning like an adult.”

The Working Mom Balancing Act

While Clarkson beams at her children’s ambitions, she has been candid about the challenges of co-parenting amid a demanding schedule. During a March 25 episode of her Not Gonna Lie podcast, she joked about missing school events: “Why do schools have things in the middle of the f–king day?” She admitted feeling like the “asshole” when work keeps her from attending, and highlighted a double standard with her kids: “They’re like, ‘He’s allowed to be somewhere, but you’re not.’ … Mommy does work, that’s okay. Women and men work, it’s okay.”

River Rose’s confident steps into both the spotlight and behind-the-scenes roles suggest that Kelly Clarkson’s talent—and her fearless spirit—are already inspiring the next generation.
