‘The Voice’ Season 29 Shatters the Internet with an Electric New Trailer, Unveiling a Legendary Coaching Trio Poised for the Most Cutthroat, High-Stakes Battle in the Show’s History.

Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine, and John Legend are stepping back into the spotlight—and they’re more competitive than ever.

PEOPLE has unveiled the official trailer for Season 29 of The Voice, titled The Voice: Battle of Champions, offering fans a first look at the revamped competition ahead of its February 23 premiere on NBC. The new season promises a bold shake-up, delivering what the network calls a “fresh twist on the format” designed to raise the stakes for both coaches and artists.

In the trailer, the three veteran coaches return to their iconic red chairs for an all-star–driven season focused on winning. “It’s the battle of champions for a reason,” Legend says at the opening of the teaser, setting the tone for what’s to come.

The competitive banter quickly takes center stage. Levine proudly reminds viewers, “I’m the first coach ever to win the show,” prompting Clarkson to counter with a smile, “But I have won the most!” Levine also teases the season’s talent, describing one performance as “explosive” and unlike anything the show has seen before.

At another moment, Legend and Levine jokingly clash over their credentials, each pointing out they’ve won Grammy Awards for Best New Artist. Clarkson breaks the tension with humor, quipping, “I hate when dad and dad fight.”

The teaser also hints at major surprises, including the return of original Voice coach CeeLo Green. After coaching during the show’s first three seasons, Green is back in a new role, serving as the judge who selects the winner of every All-Star Showdown. His dramatic entrance leaves an impression, with Clarkson joking that she plans to “steal that” for her Las Vegas show.

Season 29 marks a major evolution for The Voice. For the first time, the show will feature only three coaches instead of the usual four, with each coach starting with 10 artists on their team. The competition will unfold across multiple rounds, including Blind Auditions, Battles, Knockouts, semifinals, and finals, all infused with faster-paced, high-pressure elements.

Adding to the excitement, several fan-favorite winners and finalists are returning to compete. Clarkson’s team includes Girl Named Tom and Jake Hoot, Legend brings back Maelyn Jarmon and Renzo, while Levine’s roster features Javier Colon and Jordan Smith.

Clarkson last appeared as a coach in Season 23, while Legend and Levine most recently coached together during Season 27. Their reunion, paired with a champion-focused format, signals one of the most intense seasons in the show’s history.
