Willie Nelson to Host Virtual ‘Come and Toke It’ Weed-Themed Variety Show on 4/20

Willie Nelson wasn’t about to let the coronavirus pandemic put a damper on his favorite holiday: 4/20.

The legendary country icon and longtime cannabis advocate announced he would host a weed-themed virtual variety show titled Come and Toke It, presented by Luck Reunion. The event streamed online, bringing the spirit of 4/20 straight into fans’ homes during quarantine.

“This 4/20 at 4:20 p.m. CT, we’re bringing together artists, chefs, comedians, educators and more for four hours and twenty minutes of cannabis-centric entertainment,” the show’s description read. Nelson himself served as host, broadcasting from isolation.

At 86, Nelson also shared a cheerful video message with fans. “Happy 4/20 out there, y’all,” he said while taking a puff from an electronic smoking device. “Y’all have a hit for me, and pass it on.”

The star-studded guest list included Matthew McConaughey, Kacey Musgraves, Billy Ray Cyrus, Toby Keith, Ziggy Marley, Tommy Chong, Bill Maher, Beto O’Rourke, and more — blending music, comedy, and conversation into a laid-back celebration.

Nelson’s love of cannabis is well known. He even launched his own curated marijuana brand, Willie’s Reserve, joking in 2015, “I feel like I bought so much, it’s time to start selling it back!”

He’s also famously persuasive. Actor Woody Harrelson once revealed that after quitting marijuana for two years, Nelson repeatedly encouraged him to return to it — eventually succeeding after a poker game. When Harrelson finally gave in, Nelson reportedly smiled and said, “Welcome home, son.”

While Nelson has since given up smoking cigarettes due to breathing issues that forced him to cancel part of his 2019 tour, his affection for cannabis culture remains strong. Come and Toke It proved that even in lockdown, Willie Nelson could still bring people together — one relaxed celebration at a time. 🌿🎶
