Zia, a pregnant dog with a rough past, was found wandering a neighborhood, her body bearing the marks of a hard life on the streets. But her journey was about to change when rescuers brought her to a shelter.
Though the shelter was noisy and unfamiliar, Zia felt a sense of relief. She no longer had to face the harsh realities of the streets. Her trust in humans grew as she hoped for a safer environment where she could give birth to her puppies.
A New Beginning with Foster Care
In February 2019, Zia was rescued from the shelter by Fresno Bully Rescue in California. She was placed with a wonderful foster mom named Noelani, who opened her heart and home to Zia. From the moment she arrived, Zia showed her gratitude and love by showering Noelani with kisses and seeking comfort in her arms.
Noelani was touched by Zia’s affectionate and trusting nature, noting how the dog would snuggle close to her, seeking reassurance and companionship.
A Loving Mother
Soon, Zia gave birth to four healthy puppies: Zoie, Zeus, Zorro, and Zaina. With the care and support of her foster mom, Zia became an excellent mother. After the exhausting birth, she nursed her babies and watched over them as they grew stronger each day. The puppies thrived under her loving care, and their bond with Zia was filled with warmth and tenderness.
Zia’s transformation from a scared, homeless dog to a loving mother in the safety of a foster home is a testament to the power of kindness and care. Her story shows that even after experiencing hardship, animals like Zia can find love and happiness again.
