Her father even left his job at a lead mine so the family could pursue music full time, touring the country in a 40-foot bus. Their dedication paid off when they won the SPBGMA International Band Contest in 2010 and released two albums through Pisgah Ridge and Crossroads Records.

Married at 18 and a mother by 19, she is now raising three young boys with Devon in a home they built together in 2020. In January, she shared a heartfelt rendition on Instagram, explaining that the song has long been woven into her family’s memories and legacy.

For her American Idol audition, Harper wore a homemade patchwork dress and performed “String Cheese” alongside her brother Dalton on guitar.
