With only a handful of Blind Audition episodes remaining in The Voice Season 28, the pressure is mounting for hopeful artists looking to secure a spot in the competition. During Monday night’s episode on October 6, one young performer rose to the occasion with remarkable confidence and poise well beyond her years.
Fourteen-year-old Vinya Chhabra stepped onto the stage looking completely at ease as she delivered a bold, dynamic cover of Alanis Morissette’s 1996 hit “Ironic.” Her calm presence came as no surprise given her impressive musical background. A classically trained concert pianist, Vinya has already performed at Carnegie Hall and has experience in musical theater—credentials that likely helped steady her nerves during the life-changing audition.
From the moment she began singing, the coaches took notice. Reba McEntire was the first to turn her chair, quickly followed by Michael Bublé. Snoop Dogg waited until the final moments before hitting his button, completing a strong three-chair turn for the teenage singer.
Snoop praised Vinya’s stage presence and fearlessness, telling her, “You pack a powerful punch at your age. You’re not nervous. You’re not afraid. That’s superstar quality.” Reba echoed the sentiment, calling Vinya a “powerhouse” and applauding both her vocal ability and confident attitude.
When it came time to choose a coach, Vinya invited her parents to join her onstage for the big decision. After a thoughtful moment, she chose to join Team Reba, a choice that delighted the country music legend.
“Vinya really had great range, great tone, and the young contestants on this show are like sponges,” Reba said. “They really want to learn. They really want to grow.”
Teen contestants have a strong track record on The Voice. Past winners like Brynn Cartelli and Carter Rubin both claimed victory at age 15, while Danielle Bradbery, Sawyer Fredericks, and Chevel Shepherd each won the title at just 16.
With her talent, experience, and composure, Vinya Chhabra is already proving she belongs among that impressive group—and her Voice journey is only just beginning.
